Hello! My name is Haku and I am an 8 year old Great Pyrenees. My name means "white" in Japanese. I share a name with a mythical character from the film Spirited Away and I have the cutest Grinch feet. I am fluffy, cuddly, and a loyal companion to my people. I am a man of routine and look forward to my daily walk. My ears perk up when I even hear the word 'walk!' I don't need to go too long. An hour is about where I max out, but usually 10 or 20 minutes will suffice. I am a great walking buddy, but seeing other dogs on walks stresses me out and I will bark at them. When I have my gentle lead on, I am very good about not pulling unless I see a dog.

I love belly rubs, being brushed and pet, sniffing all the things, playing tug of war, sleeping on beds and couches, car rides, taking naps with you, being told I'm a 'good boy', treats, and walks! I do not like peanut butter, other dogs, being petted by strangers, and something about TV show theme songs and most movie intro songs makes me cry.

I would do best in a quiet home where there is not much coming and going. I have lived in a home with older children and would do best in a home where I'm the only pet. I like having my people near and am not always comfortable with strangers coming into my home, especially men. When you leave for a bit and come back, I will greet you with the cutest and goofiest toothy grin because I am so excited to see you! My favorite place where I feel most relaxed is being next to you. While you are away, although I miss you, I am never destructive. I am also house trained and know simple commands such as "sit" and "down."

I need a fenced yard. As a livestock protector, I like to check the perimeter of my yard. Because I take my job so seriously, sometimes it can be hard to relax or know when to stop. I am working on a command called "check for friends" where I check the perimeter of the yard and then once I've barked at any friends (squirrels, neighboring dogs, rabbits, etc.), I know I can relax and play. I sometimes find it hard to relax inside too and am working on my barking with a command called "breathe". When I hear that, I know I should close my mouth and take a breath. When I feel safe and secure, I love to snooze and laze around the house. Every now and then I get a burst of energy and love to grab a toy from my toy bin to shake around and play tug of war. It will be very hard for you not to laugh as I pounce and prance around.

I lived with the same family for my whole life and changing homes was hard. I need time to settle in, build trust, and understand all the new sights, sounds, and smells of your home. But once I feel safe with you, I will be your best friend for life!

❤ I am currently being fostered in Shoreline, WA.
